Waite's have been involved in the painting business for 5 generations. Reuben Waite was born about 1856 and set up business in Shipley, near Bradford, UK in the late 1800's. The sign on his building said 'Painters, Glaziers, Grainers, Undertakers!’
Norman Waite Snr, the youngest of 11 children, came to NZ in 1920 to follow his older brothers who had emigrated a few years earlier. He worked with them as a painter in Auckland, and moved to Hamilton in 1929 to start up a painting business there. This company was involved in many large painting projects including industrial work and sandblasting and coating the North Island main trunk viaducts.
His son Trevor started his own painting business in the 1960’s and Norm, his son and current Director, continued the business throughout the 70's servicing the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. After 18 successful years in the Waikato, he moved to Oamaru in 1994 and continued the tradition trading as National Decorators.
Over the past 20 years National Decorators has grown steadily and has now established itself right across NZ, from Kaitaia to Bluff. In recent years the company has focused on its two core markets - providing painting and washing services for organisations with a nationwide property portfolio, and for companies with difficult industrial sites.
We will be the market leaders in painting and building preservation thanks to innovative products, systems and technologies along with our unwavering commitment to customer service.
